SturmTiger Zimmerit 1:35 (Voyager Model)

This is not a vehicle model but a detail add-on set. The Voyager Model photo-etched set imitates the characteristic anti-magnetic Zimmerit coating on the surface of the armor and is intended for detailing models of the German SturmTiger heavy assault vehicle in 1:35 scale. The precisely etched pattern takes the place of the laborious hand application of Zimmerit with putty.

The real subject

The SturmTiger was a German heavy assault weapon of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Tiger I tank and armed with a massive 380 mm rocket launcher. The vehicles were deployed in small numbers and their armor carried the typical Zimmerit coating against magnetic mines.

How to use the set

• Separate the etched parts carefully and lay them on the matching areas of the armor.
• Bond them with super glue and press the fine edges down in advance.
• Once glued, fill the whole area and sand it into a smooth transition.
• Bring out the texture with a wash and pigments for a realistic patina.
