Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of an American World War II battleship in 1:350 scale. The manufacturer is Trumpeter. The name carries the designation USS Battleship Alabama BB-60, which matches the naming used by the manufacturer itself. The model is supplied as a glue kit to be assembled and painted.
USS Alabama was the last of the four South Dakota class battleships. She entered service in 1942. At first she operated in the Atlantic alongside the British Home Fleet on convoy duty, then she was transferred to the Pacific, where she escorted carrier task forces and supported landings on a series of islands as far as Okinawa. The main battery consisted of nine 406 mm guns in three turrets. After the war she was decommissioned and since the 1960s she has served as a museum ship in Mobile, Alabama, so she can still be seen today.
With a large hull it pays to check first that both halves fit without tension, and only then to glue them. Paint the deck and the superstructures separately, otherwise the masking gets needlessly complicated. American battleships wore camouflage schemes of several shades of gray and blue that changed over the course of the war; stick to the scheme in the instructions. The wooden deck areas stand out when you accentuate them after the base color with fine lightening and a dark wash flowing into the engraved lines. Fit the fine parts of the masts and the guns only at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
