Injection-molded plastic kit of the American escort carrier USS Shamrock Bay (CVE-84) in 1:350 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. USS Shamrock Bay was one of the fifty Casablanca-class escort carriers built during the war in great numbers and exceptionally quickly, on hulls derived from merchant ships. These ships were smaller and slower than the fleet carriers, but they served as indispensable support for landings, as convoy escorts and as aircraft transports. Shamrock Bay took part in operations in the Pacific in the closing stages of the war and carried a small air group of fighters and torpedo bombers.
Decide whether you will build the ship as a full hull on a stand or as a waterline model. Paint the flight deck and the superstructures with an airbrush and bring out the panel lines and the planking of the deck with a wash and dry-brushing. Glue the small parts, any photo-etched railings and the aerial fittings with cyanoacrylate glue at the very end. Models of aircraft on the deck will heighten the overall impression.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
