A plastic kit of a Soviet submarine of the Second World War in 1:350 scale from Mikromir. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The model captures a Soviet submarine of the Second World War period. Submarines of that time spent most of a patrol on the surface and dived mainly to attack or to escape, so their shape is a compromise between running on the surface and running submerged. The particular class is not stated here, so check the type in the instructions enclosed with the kit.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The make-up of the package, the number of parts and the choice of finishes are given by the manufacturer's instructions. 1:350 is an established scale for ship models, so the finished model will sit well among other vessels of the same size without taking up much room.
On submarines the hull is usually made up of lengthwise parts, so allow for careful work on the seam: lay the filler on in thin coats and sand it back with fine paper until the seam disappears against the light. Glue the small parts on the deck and the conning tower right at the end, so that they do not fall off while you handle the hull. Separate the painted lower part of the hull from the upper one with an accurately drawn demarcation line, best with masking tape stuck on before spraying. The finished model shows well on a dark base that suggests the surface of the sea.
The kit suits collectors of ship models in 1:350 scale and anyone who builds Second World War subjects. Given the small parts, have tweezers and good light ready. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
