A pair of 370-gallon wing drop tanks with pylons for F-16 models in 1:48 scale, made by direct three-dimensional printing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-16 fighter flies most missions with drop tanks on the wing pylons, since the fuselage's own fuel supply is not enough for longer flights. 370-gallon tanks are among the most common equipment and significantly change the aircraft's silhouette under the wing. Without them, a model looks more like an aircraft ready for a display flight than one prepared for a real mission.
The package contains two tanks in the version designated type 1, including the pylons used to hang them under the wing. The parts are made by direct three-dimensional printing, so they have a smooth surface with no mold seam and finely rendered surface detail. This does away with filling and sanding the lengthwise seam, which is usually the most laborious part of the work on two-piece plastic tanks.
The parts are held on print supports. Snip them off as close to the surface as possible and smooth the marks with fine sandpaper — on the tank's smooth side, every unevenness shows up clearly once sprayed. Remove any residue of print resin and degrease the surface before painting. Glue the tank and pylon with cyanoacrylate or epoxy glue, and test-fit it dry beforehand to see how it sits on the wing, so both sides hang symmetrically and parallel to the aircraft's axis.
The set suits modelers building the F-16 in a combat configuration who want the underwing equipment to match the rest of the model in quality. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
