The set is an armament accessory, not an airplane kit. According to its name it contains two AGM-12B Bullpup A missiles and serves to arm a model under construction in the very widespread 1:48 scale. The name lists a wide range of carriers, among them carrier-based and land-based American types as well as British machines — A-4, A-5, Grumman A-6, A-7, F-4, F-8, F-100, F-105, P-3 Orion, Sea Vixen and Buccaneer.
The Bullpup was an American air-to-ground guided missile that entered service at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s and became one of the first serially deployed weapons of its kind in the West. It was guided by radio command: the operator watched a flare in the tail of the missile and steered it manually onto the target, which required the carrier to stay in straight flight toward the target. The AGM-12B version corresponds to the basic model of the family, which was followed by further, heavier variants.
Fit the missiles only at the end of the build, after the airframe has been painted and weathered, otherwise you risk bending the fins during ordinary handling. Degrease the parts before painting and cover them with a thin coat of primer. Test the attachment to the pylon dry and fix the joint with cyanoacrylate, which bonds dissimilar surfaces as well. Weapons of this period usually carried conspicuous color markings, so it pays to watch the crispness of the transitions between shades.
