The 1:48 AN/ALQ-101 ECM pod, short version is a 3D printed model of an electronic warfare jamming pod in 1:48 scale. It is a carried accessory to an aircraft model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The accessory represents the AN/ALQ-101 external electronic warfare pod in the shorter length variant, made by 3D printing for 1:48 scale. The pod is hung on a pylon of an aircraft model and completes its equipment with a feature that in most kits is either missing or simplified. The maker also produces a longer variant of the same pod, so when choosing, watch which of them you need for your configuration. This is an accessory, not an aircraft model.
Pods of the AN/ALQ-101 series are among the American electronic warfare assets. They carry transmitters that disrupt the work of enemy fire-control radars, and are carried on an ordinary pylon much like ordnance. In service they appeared in several length and equipment variants, because the internal electronics changed during the life of the type; that is exactly why short and long pods with different silhouettes exist. Pods of this kind were used by Western tactical aircraft from the 1960s and stayed in the inventory for several decades.
First wash the printed resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove any uncured print resin. Cut the print supports off with a fine saw or a knife and sand the area smooth. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate (super glue). Sand wet and with respiratory protection. On a printed surface fine layering sometimes shows, which is easily leveled with fine abrasive paper and a coat of primer. Only then comes the base shade and any markings.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a base model. Glue, paints and the aircraft kit are not included, unless stated otherwise.
