Resin engine nacelle intakes with no lengthwise seam for a model of the B-58 Hustler in 1:48 scale, for the Revell or Monogram kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Convair B-58 Hustler was the first American supersonic strategic bomber. You will recognize it by the delta-shaped wing and by the four engines hung individually under the wing in long nacelles. The intake of the nacelles had a conical center spike and a deep circular opening, which is clearly visible on the model from the front.
The set brings resin engine nacelle intakes made so that no lengthwise seam arises inside the duct. On parts assembled from halves the seam runs exactly where it can be seen, and filling and sanding it in a narrow duct is among the most unpleasant work on the whole model. With this part that step falls away.
Cut the excess material off with a saw a little way from the part and sand the remainder away carefully, so that the shape of the intake lip is preserved. Then wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, because production residues prevent the paint from adhering. Paint the inside of the duct and let it dry before you seat the part in the nacelle, because afterwards you will not get a brush inside. The intake lip calls for a thin coat of paint so that it keeps its sharpness.
The set is for modelers who are building the B-58 in 1:48 scale and want the nacelle intakes clean without filling deep in the duct. Working with resin calls for a sharp knife, a saw and careful degreasing. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
