Replacement engine exhaust nozzles for a model of the BAC Lightning in 1:48 scale, meant for the Airfix kit. The set covers the F1, F2, T4 and F2A versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lightning was a British supersonic interceptor with an unusual arrangement of its power plant: the two engines were mounted in the fuselage one above the other, so the exhaust nozzles too come out at the rear as a pair, one above the other. This solution gives the rear end of the aircraft a characteristic shape that cannot be missed on a model. The F1, F2 and F2A versions were single-seat, while the T4 was a two-seat trainer.
The set brings replacement engine exhaust nozzles for the Airfix kit in 1:48 scale. They replace the parts from the kit, and their point is a thinner nozzle rim and a deeper, better delineated inside. According to its name the nozzles can be used for the F1, F2, T4 and F2A versions.
The parts are not made of polystyrene and ordinary modeling cement will not join them, so use super glue. Degrease them before gluing and let them dry, because otherwise neither the glue nor the paint will hold. Level the remains left after the part was separated with a file or abrasive paper and dry fit the surface where the nozzles will seat against the fuselage. Paint the inside of the nozzle before you seat it in place, and put the darkest shade as deep as possible, so that the opening looks deep.
The set is meant for modelers who want to get rid of the thick nozzle rims and open up the view into the rear end of the aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not in the package, unless stated otherwise.
