A set of 3D-printed type 1 wheels for the Martin Baltimore Mk.I to Mk.V aircraft in 1:48 scale. Intended for Special Hobby kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Martin Baltimore was a twin-engine bomber of American manufacture which during the Second World War flew mainly with the Royal Air Force and its allies in the Mediterranean and over North Africa. The designations Mk.I to Mk.V cover the successive production versions of the machine. On a model the main landing gear wheels are among the parts a viewer notices first, because they are seen close up and in sharp outline.
The set provides 3D-printed type 1 wheels in 1:48 scale, intended for Baltimore kits from Special Hobby. The print captures the pattern of the tread and the shape of the hub more sharply than injection-molded plastic can, and the parting seam down the middle of the tire falls away.
The parts are held on print supports. Cut them off with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw as close to the part as possible, sand the remains down carefully and level the surface. Then wash and degrease the surface so that no print resin residue is left on it, otherwise the paint will not hold. The material is not polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate for gluing. The tire and the hub are easier to paint separately, before being glued to the landing gear leg.
The set is intended for builders of aircraft in 1:48 scale who want to complete the landing gear of a Baltimore model with more accurate wheels. The swap is simple and even a less experienced builder will manage it.
The package contains only the accessory named. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
