This item is a colored Eduard photo-etched set of the Zoom range, that is an accessory for a plastic model, not the model itself. Zoom is a deliberately narrowed variant of the large interior sets: it concentrates on what is best visible on a finished model, above all on the instrument panel, the side panels and the restraint belts. Anyone who wants the complete fitting out of a cockpit, including unpainted structural parts, will reach for the full interior set; Zoom is the quicker choice for a build practically straight out of the box.
The Bristol Beaufighter was a British twin-engine heavy fighter aircraft that came about using design elements of the Beaufort bomber. It first flew in 1939 and entered service in 1940. The Mk.IF version served with Fighter Command above all as a night fighter: it had enough internal space for the airborne radar of the day and for its operator, a robust airframe and heavy armament in the nose of the fuselage. The pilot's cockpit is clearly visible thanks to the glazing, so detailing pays off.
Zoom is built quickly, but the reward comes only with a well-prepared ground: sand the relief of the instruments on the plastic part flat and degrease the area. The colored parts are glued spot by spot, as the smallest amount of cyanoacrylate applied with the tip of a toothpick is enough; otherwise the printing will fog. Press the side panels down with the rubber tip of tweezers, not with metal, so that the printing is not scratched. Give the restraint belts a slight wave before gluing and let them drape freely over the seat, as straight belts look unnatural. Finish the cockpit with a flat clear coat.
The set is an accessory for a plastic model and is not a stand-alone kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
