The BRU-57 in 1:48 scale is a set of two resin smart munitions racks for F-16 kits. The accessory lets you show a pair of precision-guided bombs on a single pylon on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Reskit supplies two resin BRU-57 racks in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but a part for finishing off an F-16 kit: the rack fits between the wing pylon and the weapons and carries a pair of precision-guided munitions. The set refines an area that the plastic parts from the basic box usually handle only in simplified form, or do not hold at all.
The BRU-57 is a so-called smart rack. Compared with conventional bomb racks, which only carry a bomb mechanically and push it away, it can serve two modern guided weapons at once and pass each of them the data it needs before release, for example target assignment. The aircraft can therefore carry two precision-guided stores on a single pylon instead of one, and the remaining stations stay free for tanks or reconnaissance pods. On a model the rack is clearly visible from below and markedly changes the overall silhouette of the stores fit.
Wash the resin parts in warm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the mating surface on abrasive paper so that the rack does not point off at an angle once glued. It is glued with cyanoacrylate. Paint and weather the rack and the weapons separately and only then join them, because otherwise the lower surfaces are hard to reach. We recommend a dry assembly to check that the bombs do not touch one another.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a stand-alone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and glue and paints are not included in the package.
