Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the historic Chia seaplane in 1:48 scale from the Bronco brand. The model captures an early Chinese biplane on a pair of floats and offers an unusual subject from the beginnings of aviation that is commonly missing from collections.
The Chia aircraft was the first machine designed by a Chinese design and production department and is described as the first independently developed Chinese naval aircraft. It was a two-seat biplane on a pair of floats with controls in both the front and the rear seat, so it served for training, reconnaissance and light bombing. The structure followed American patterns of the day and the machine was powered by an eight-cylinder Curtiss engine of about 100 horsepower. It was completed in 1919, but only three were built.
On a biplane, pay attention to seating the struts between the wings and the floats precisely; a dry run of the framework helps. Add the bracing wires with a fine thread. Degrease the parts before painting, lay down a primer and spray the subtle shades with an airbrush. Wooden and fabric surfaces come into their own after a light panel emphasis and gentle weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
