The F/A-18 Hornet is an American carrier-based multirole aircraft able to carry out fighter and strike tasks alike. The two-seat F/A-18D version keeps full combat capability and, thanks to the second crew member, is often used for attacks on ground targets, guiding precision munitions and night operations. With the US Marine Corps (USMC) the two-seat Hornets served with several squadrons including VMFA-225 Vikings. The Hornet has been one of the backbone carrier aircraft since the 1980s.
Paint the interior of both cockpits and bring out their detail before you close the fuselage; the metal landing gear legs add strength to the model. Assemble the external stores and the tanks separately and hang them at the very end. Apply the gray Marine Corps camouflage with an airbrush over primer; underline the service wear of carrier aircraft with a fine wash and restrained dust and chipping around the walking areas.
