An injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter aircraft Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat in the late standard in 1:48 scale in the ProfiPACK edition from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The ProfiPACK edition adds photo-etched parts (some of them color-printed), a set of masks for the glazing and a rich decal sheet with several marking options to the plastic parts. The late version differs from the earlier ones among other things in having no window behind the cockpit.
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was the key carrier fighter of the US Navy in the Pacific during the Second World War and was credited with more victories than any other American carrier fighter. It was powered by the capable radial engine Pratt & Whitney R-2800, thanks to which it was fast, tough and well armed. Its rugged structure, folding wings and reliability made it an ideal carrier machine.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and hold the color photo-etch in place with super glue. Finish the detailed cockpit with its color photo-etch before closing the fuselage, and use the enclosed masks on the glazing. Spray the dark blue naval scheme (Glossy Sea Blue) with an airbrush once the primer is on. Lay a gloss coat under the decals and fine-tune the weathering by letting a wash flow into the panel lines. The engine and the landing gear bays deserve attention.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
