The set contains one 3D-printed resin GPU-5/A gun pod of 30 mm caliber in 1:48 scale. This is an aftermarket accessory, not a kit of an aircraft; the finely shaped casting is hung on a pylon under the fuselage or under the wing and offers a markedly higher level of detail than the parts from the box.
The GPU-5/A is an American external pod with a four-barrel rotary cannon of 30 mm caliber derived from the cannon used on the A-10 attack aircraft. The pod made it possible to carry heavy firepower on aircraft that had no cannon of this caliber of their own. It came into its own with a number of tactical machines; the compatible types include for example the A-4, A-7, AV-8B, F-4, F-5A, F-16 and F/A-18.
Wash the casting clean of the remains of manufacture, cut off the carrier blocks and the supports of the 3D print and glue any parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Wear respiratory protection while sanding. A base of primer, spraying with an airbrush and blackening the barrels for a realistic look are recommended.
The accessory is supplied as a resin, 3D-printed set of parts, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
