A short-run resin and 3D-printed kit of the Iranian HESA Shahed 136 loitering munition, designated Geran-2 by Russian forces, in 1:48 scale from Planet Models. The set is meant for experienced modelers. It tends to be a combination of resin parts for the fuselage and wings, a 3D-printed engine, a rocket booster for launch and a simple injection-molded transport trolley; it holds marking variants. It is not a classic injection-molded kit.
The HESA Shahed 136 is an Iranian loitering munition, that is, a single-use attack drone which after launch circles over an area for a long time and then plunges into its target with a warhead in the nose. It has a characteristic triangular (delta) wing with endplates, a piston engine mounted at the rear with a pusher propeller, and it is launched from a rail with the help of a booster rocket. Russia uses it under the name Geran-2. The machine is cheap, produced in large numbers and used in swarms.
First wash the mold release residue off the resin parts, carefully cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), and the joints can be filled if needed. Try the parts dry, because with a short-run tooling it is normal to fine-tune the fit. Spray the uniform sandy light color of the subject with an airbrush over a coat of primer; light weathering and signs of wear bring the look to life.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
