An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer Academy. The Berlin 1945 edition covers the two-seat Il-2m3 version from the last months of the war and offers a rich choice of marking options in the box. A mask for the cockpit glazing for easy, clean painting of the frames is included as well.
The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was an armored Soviet ground-attack aircraft that played a decisive role in the fighting on the Eastern Front. The combination of armor, firepower and toughness made it one of the most produced combat aircraft in history. The Il-2m3 version had swept outer wing panels and a two-seat layout with a rear gunner.
Liquid cement for plastic and a primer before the final shades are sprayed both prove their worth. For Soviet camouflage an airbrush and subsequent accenting of the panels with a wash work well. Use the mask supplied for clean painting of the cockpit frames.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
