This accessory is NOT an airplane model but a detail set for the cockpit. It is a pre-colored photo-etched instrument panel in 1:48 scale for models of the Republic P-47C/D Thunderbolt fighter. The panel comes from Yahu Models printed into color form with legible dials and labels, so the laborious hand painting of the individual instruments falls away.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. The C and D versions made their name as rugged machines for bomber escort and for attacks on ground targets, thanks to a powerful radial engine and heavy armament. A faithfully executed instrument panel markedly raises the impression of an open cockpit or one visible through the glazing.
