Responsibility details are not available.
A portrait figure of a particular historical person rather than of an anonymous soldier. The brand has executed it in several sizes and this is the middle one of them; at 1:48 scale the figure comes out at not quite four centimeters. It is cast in resin.
The aviator, born in 1896, became known for the mass transatlantic flights he led to South America in 1930 and 1931 and by the northern route to Chicago in 1933. His name caught on in English as a general term for a large air formation. From 1934 he headed the administration of Libya, and he died in June 1940 when his machine was shot down over Tobruk by his own antiaircraft fire. He stayed in the memory thanks to his unmistakable full beard.
With a figure four centimeters tall the face decides everything. It pays to paint the beard over a lighter undercoat and to put shadow into only a few places, otherwise it merges with its surroundings. A leather flying coat will take a glossier finish than a cloth uniform, and it is exactly the difference of finishes that keeps a model this small legible.
Seat the figure on a wire pin sunk into the feet. With a figure of this size the joint with the groundwork is the weakest point and glue alone will give way in time.
