The canopy frame for the Jaguar GR.1 and GR.1A in 1:48 refines an outline that is seen close up when the canopy is open. An accessory for building a model of the British strike aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The windows of the Jaguar are held by a slender frame, and its thickness decides the overall impression of the cockpit, especially when you leave the canopy tilted open. The plastic version tends to be thicker than reality because of the molding process. The item offered here renders the frame more finely and is meant for building a model, not for display on its own.
The Jaguar came about as a joint British and French project and reached the Royal Air Force in the mid-1970s. It was a low-flying strike and reconnaissance machine with a pair of Adour engines, which relied on speed near the ground more than on agility. The British aircraft went through updates and combat service in the Persian Gulf; they left service in 2007.
Paint the frame separately from the glazing and mask the edges with narrow tape rather than working freehand. The inner sides take the shade of the cockpit, the outer ones the camouflage. Protect the glazing from glue and from sanding dust and give it back its shine only at the very end, with a polishing compound or a thin coat of clear varnish.
It is offered on its own and unpainted. The base kit and modeling materials have to be bought as well, unless stated otherwise.
