1:48 Ki-43 III – a clear cockpit canopy for a model of the final version of the Japanese Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The final production version of the Hayabusa is the subject of this item. It offers a clear cockpit canopy in 1:48 scale, with which the glazing from a kit is replaced on a model so that the finished interior is visible and the framing has a finer outline.
The Ki-43 was among the most numerous fighters of the Japanese Army Air Force, and the Allies gave it the reporting name Oscar. The aircraft became famous for exceptional agility, which it paid for with weak armament and no protection for the pilot. The last version was given the more powerful Ha-115-II engine and individual exhaust stacks in place of a common collector, which raised its speed. It entered service at the close of the war and fought until the surrender, when it was already no match for American fighters.
Japanese cockpits tend to have fine framing, which is best brought out with thin strips of tape cut with a ruler. Paint the inner sides of the frames in the interior shade before you apply the upper color of the fuselage. The edge of the part is trued gradually and offered up to the fuselage dry after every few strokes, so that no gap appears.
You are buying the canopy glazing only; the Ki-43 model and paints do not belong with it.
