Injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese fighter Nakajima Ki-43-III Hayabusa (Army Type 1 Fighter) in 1:48 scale by the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds. The brand is prized for fine molding and careful historical research. The model faithfully captures the slender fuselage, the delicate cockpit glazing and the three-blade propeller. The finished model measures approximately 18.4 cm in length and about 22.9 cm in wingspan.
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa, meaning Falcon, given the Allied reporting name Oscar, was the most numerous fighter of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force during the Second World War. It was light in construction and excelled in agility, which made it a dangerous opponent in a turning dogfight. The late Ki-43-III version received a more powerful radial engine and represented the peak of the type's development.
Remove the parts from the sprue with a hobby knife and glue them with plastic modeling cement. Apply a primer coat before painting; an airbrush gives the best results. Mask the cockpit glazing before spraying. For Japanese army aircraft, a subtle panel-line wash and some paint chipping along the leading edges work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
