A resin set of armament from the Reskit brand. It represents the Soviet high-explosive fragmentation aerial bombs of the OFAB-250-270 type for models of aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an aircraft, but an accessory for under the wing and for the fuselage pylons. With models of aircraft the underwing armament tends to be what gives away the period and the role of the machine most.
The abbreviation OFAB designates a high-explosive fragmentation aerial bomb and the number 250 states the weight category in kilograms. This type belonged to the basic armament of attack and fighter-bomber aircraft of Eastern design and a whole range of machines carried it from the 1960s right up to later conflicts. The bombs were hung singly as well as on multiple racks under the fuselage. The shape of the body with its conical nose and sheet-metal tail unit changed little over the decades.
Rid the parts of the mold release and the casting blocks and check whether the shape will seat on the pylons of a particular model. The tail fins tend to be thin, so proceed carefully when cleaning them up and rather with the help of a magnifier. In color a uniform base shade supplemented by thin marking stripes according to period photographs looks credible. Finish the pylons first and only then seat the bombs on them. It is a good idea to do the stripes by masking, not freehand.
Check the exact make-up of the package against the manufacturer's data.
