3DF 1:48 open wing radiators for the Bf 109E are a 3D printed detail set — the radiators in the wing with the flaps in the open position. Intended for the Bf 109E 1:48 kit from Eduard; it is not a model but an accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
A 3D printed replacement set from 3DF intended for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E kit in 1:48 scale from Eduard. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a detail set — it replaces the parts of the wing radiators and shows them with the flaps in the open position.
The Bf 109E had its coolant radiators recessed into the lower surface of the wing and their airflow was regulated by an exit flap. On the ground, when parked and above all while the engine was warming up, the flaps were usually fully open so that the engine would not overheat. It is exactly this state that turns a model into a living aircraft on its stand instead of a sterile shape with a smoothly closed underwing. An open flap, however, reveals the inside of the cooling duct — and that is precisely what the set deals with: 3D printing manages thin walls, the fine matrix of the radiator core and the flap mechanism in one piece, which injection-molded plastic cannot do at this level of fineness.
For advanced modelers who build the Emil in 1:48 and want to show it as it stood on its dispersal stand — with the cooling flaps open, the way the machine looked while the engine was warming up. Working with 3D prints calls for a steady hand, a sharp tool and patience when cutting the supports off; the reward is interior detail that the box does not give you.
A 3D printed detail set, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
