It is a short-run injection-molded kit with finely engraved surfaces, supplemented with clear parts for the glazing; short-run kits from AMP usually also offer small accessories for raising the level of detail. The decals included allow a build in period American markings. Glue and paints are not included.
The HUP Retriever was a compact helicopter from Piasecki with the characteristic layout of two tandem rotors arranged one behind the other. It served mainly with the US Navy in the 1950s for rescue duties, for plane-guard work during launches and landings on the decks of aircraft carriers and for transport. The HUP-2 version was among the most widespread and was marked out among other things by a stabilization system that allowed flight without pilot input.
A short-run kit calls for patience: clean up the molding edges, try the parts dry and allow for a little filling. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement. A good primer is useful before painting, and the tandem rotors and the glazed cockpit will appreciate spraying with an airbrush and careful masking of the transparencies.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
