About product

Reskit 1:48 Sea King – Tail Rotor (6 Blades), Resin Accessory

The set contains a resin, 3D-printed replacement six-blade tail rotor for models of the Sea King helicopter in 1:48 scale. This is not a helicopter model or a stand-alone kit — it is a detail accessory that replaces the tail rotor from the base plastic kit. According to the manufacturer, it is intended for Sea King kits from Airfix and Hasegawa. The accessory is made by Reskit.

What it is for

The tail rotor is one of the most exposed spots on a helicopter model — the thin blades, the hub with its control mechanism and the pins are hard to capture by injection molding. Plastic blades tend to be needlessly thick, with blunt edges and mold seams. 3D-printed resin makes it possible to produce blades that are thin, with sharp trailing edges, and a hub with fine relief, which immediately gives the model scale credibility.

Working with resin

  • Wash the parts in warm water with dish soap — this removes residue of uncured print resin.
  • Cut off the 3D-printing supports with a saw or a sharp scalpel; never snap the thin blades off by force.
  • Glue with cyanoacrylate glue — plastic cement does not bond with resin.
  • Sand only lightly, wet, and with respiratory protection.
  • Apply a primer before painting; on the thin blades, work with thinned paint so the detail is not lost.

Who the accessory is for

For modelers building the Sea King in 1:48 scale from an Airfix or Hasegawa kit who want a finer tail rotor than the plastic in the box offers. Working with resin calls for care, since the blades are fragile — but the result is all the better for it.

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.

FAQ

No. This is a replacement tail rotor. The base Sea King kit in 1:48 scale must be purchased separately.

The manufacturer lists it for Sea King kits from Airfix and Hasegawa in 1:48 scale.

Reskit also offers Sea King tail rotors in a five-blade version. Before buying, check how many blades the specific helicopter version you are building has.

With cyanoacrylate glue. Cut off the print supports, never snap them off — the thin blades would crack.
