1:48 T-38A Talon exhaust nozzles is an add-on set of exhaust nozzles for a model of the supersonic T-38A trainer in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is an accessory for the tail of a model, not an aircraft kit. It replaces the engine exhaust nozzles on a part-built model of the supersonic T-38A trainer in the Talon version in 1:48 scale. On a slender airframe with a thin wing the pair of nozzles makes up a conspicuous feature of the tail, and working them up is among the improvements that are visible at first glance on a finished model.
The Northrop T-38 Talon is a two-seat supersonic trainer which first flew at the end of the 1950s and became the basic stage of combat pilot training in the United States for many decades. It is powered by two afterburning turbojet engines mounted side by side in the rear fuselage, so the aircraft reaches supersonic speed at relatively small dimensions. The T-38A version corresponds to the basic training variant of the range, on which further modifications and upgrades followed.
Paint the inner surfaces of the nozzles before you seat them in the fuselage, because later you cannot get at them. The metallic look comes from applying metallic shades over a dark base in thin coats; the scorching around the outlet is built up with thinned brown and blue-gray tones. Finish both nozzles at the same time so that they match in shade. Test the fit dry first, level the transition to the fuselage by sanding with your airways protected and fix the joint with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
