Douglas TBD-1A Devastator 1:48 from Hobby Boss is a plastic kit of the floatplane version of the American carrier torpedo bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale captures the floatplane version of the Douglas Devastator torpedo bomber. It is a modern mold from Hobby Boss that follows on from the standard carrier form and adds parts for mounting on a pair of floats. The model is made up of cleanly molded plastic parts with fine surface relief, clear parts for the canopy and a decal sheet. The exact number of parts and the markings are given on the sheet in the package.
The Douglas TBD Devastator entered service with the US Navy in 1937 as one of the first all-metal carrier aircraft with retractable landing gear. The TBD-1A version came about by adapting the airframe to a pair of large floats and served for trials of the water-borne variant. The basic type carried a crew of three and was intended for attacks with a torpedo as well as bombs; by the start of the war, though, it was already among the obsolete machines.
Use a liquid model cement on the plastic joints and clean the flash off the parts first. Finish the cockpit and the interior before closing the fuselage. We recommend a primer underneath and spraying with an airbrush; the floats and the lower surfaces deserve careful masking of the color division. You accent the panel lines with a thin washable shade.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
