This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter represents the supersonic two-seat Northrop T-38A Talon trainer in the color scheme of the American Thunderbirds aerobatic team, in 1:48 scale. The box holds plastic parts, decals and illustrated instructions; schemes for the Thunderbirds team are enclosed, including the ceremonial version.
The Northrop T-38 Talon is a slim supersonic trainer with two turbojets, which flew at the end of the 1950s and became one of the most widely used trainers of the US Air Force. In the 1970s and at the beginning of the 1980s the American Thunderbirds aerobatic team also flew the T-38 version, moving temporarily from more powerful combat machines to the economical Talon during the energy crisis. The slim fuselage and small wings give the aircraft an elegant, almost racing look, which is tied to exactly this team's displays.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and use a primer coat before painting. The striking gloss white Thunderbirds scheme calls for a smooth, even surface and a gloss coat under the decals so that no silvered edges appear. We suggest painting in thin coats and doing the colored stripes of the scheme with the supplied decals rather than with masking.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
