Reskit 1:48 USAF Inboard Pylons: inboard wing pylons for the F-4 Phantom II

This product consists of resin, 3D printed detail accessories from Reskit: inboard wing pylons, the ones close to the wing root, for a model of the F-4 Phantom II fighter in US Air Force form, in 1:48 scale. It is not an airplane model but a set of accessory parts on which underwing armament and tanks are hung. The package contains the resin pylons on print supports; the plastic kit, the armament and glue are not included.

What the accessory is for

The inboard pylons are fitted under the wings close to the fuselage and serve to hang bombs, rockets or drop tanks. The Reskit 3D printed pylons faithfully reproduce the shapes and fine details that injection-molded plastic cannot manage, and so replace the less detailed parts from the base F-4 Phantom II kit. They suit the US Air Force variants.

Fitting and preparation

• Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove uncured print resin residue and grease.
• Cut the print supports off carefully and clean the cuts up with sandpaper.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue): cement for plastic does not bond resin.
• Protect your airways when sanding resin and work wet because of the dust.
• Apply a primer before painting, for good paint adhesion.
