An SBS Model add-on set in 1:48 scale with a propeller for the Westland Lysander kits from Eduard and Gavia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Lysander is a British high-wing aircraft intended for cooperation with ground forces, famous for its ability to take off and land on a short strip. The propeller is always conspicuous on a model: everyone looks at it first from the front, and its shape and the thickness of the blades decide whether the model looks convincing.
A replacement propeller in 1:48 scale for the Westland Lysander kits from Eduard and Gavia. It replaces the part from the base kit with a rendering that has a finer blade section and more legible hub detail.
The parts are not polystyrene and ordinary modeling cement has no effect on them; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder, proceeding in small steps on the thin blades so that they are not damaged. Wash and degrease the propeller before painting and apply a primer. The exact procedure for preparing the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Fit the propeller at the very end of the build, once the model has been painted; while gluing it, watch that the axis runs perpendicular to the plane of the front view and that the blades have the same pitch.
The set suits modelers who want to replace the most conspicuous component of a display model with a finer rendering without having to touch the build of the fuselage. The swap is a matter of a few minutes and shows in the result at the first glance into the display case. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
