A gift set with a kit of the British cruiser HMS Belfast in 1:600 scale. Besides the parts of the model it also contains paints, so it can be built straight after unpacking.
Responsibility details are not available.
HMS Belfast is a British cruiser that served with the Royal Navy during the Second World War and then for a number of postwar years. Today she is permanently moored on the Thames in London and serves as a museum ship, thanks to which she is among the best documented warships of all. Her silhouette is dominated by the main-caliber gun turrets, the intricate bridge superstructure and two funnels.
This is a gift set in which, besides the parts of the kit in 1:600 scale, there are also paints. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with the parts on sprues. The 1:600 scale is a proven one for large surface ships: the model stays manageable in a display case and yet keeps the intricacy of its superstructures.
Cut the small parts, especially the masts, the gun barrels and the cranes, off the sprue only at the moment you are going to glue them, otherwise they are easily lost or bent. Paint the hull and the decks before you fit the superstructures; afterward a brush will not reach the areas at their foot. The boundary between the deck and the side colors runs along a sharp edge, so masking tape is worth using. Bringing the detail up with a darker glaze will pull out the hatches, gratings and guide rails, which at this scale otherwise merge together.
The set suits anyone interested in Royal Navy ships as well as modelers who want everything they need in one package. The package contains the kit and paints; glue, thinner and other tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
