An injection-molded plastic ship kit in 1:700 scale from Flyhawk in the collector's Deluxe edition. Beyond the plastic parts the box holds photo-etched parts on several frets, metal turned barrels and, as a bonus, a set of small models of deck aircraft. It is a very detailed model meant to be glued and painted.
Königsberg was a German light cruiser of the class of the same name from the end of the 1920s. What was characteristic was the unusual arrangement of the gun turrets, with the after turrets offset to the sides from one another to widen the arcs of fire. In April 1940, during the invasion of Norway, the ship was sunk by an air attack by the British Fleet Air Arm, and she is often named among the first large warships destroyed by an attack of dive bombers.
The model can be built with a full hull, or in the waterline version on a base. Glue the photo-etched railings, ladders and cranes with super glue. The metal barrels are simply fitted, which raises the realism. We recommend an airbrush, bringing the panel lines out with a thin wash, and reaching for pigments for the sea and the highlights.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
