An injection-molded plastic kit of the British battleship HMS Nelson in her 1944 fit, in 1:700 scale, from Trumpeter. The package holds plastic frets for building the hull and the superstructures, and decals. The model suits building the ship as a whole as well as for a club display case.
HMS Nelson was the lead unit of the class of the same name of British battleships of the interwar era. A characteristic feature was the concentration of the main artillery in three gun turrets placed forward of the superstructure. During the Second World War the ship took part in operations in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean; her 1944 form reflects the later changes to the antiaircraft armament and the radars.
Depending on the approach you choose, the hull can be built whole or altered to a waterline version and set on a stand. Glue the fine parts of the superstructures and the armament accurately, paint the deck and the sides with an airbrush and mask the camouflage transitions. Photo-etched railings and ladders are a suitable accessory.
