An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Republic F-84E Thunderjet jet fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model belongs to the simplified Easy Assembly range: the main parts of the airframe are large one-piece sections (the lower fuselage with the wings and the upper fuselage half with the integral fin), the canopy is one piece, and cockpit tubs and separate airbrakes are provided. The box contains decals for several markings; the exact contents may differ between boxings.
The F-84 Thunderjet from Republic was a single-engine jet fighter-bomber with a straight wing. The F-84E version of 1949 was the first fully combat-capable variant; compared with the later F-84G it had a less powerful engine and was not equipped for in-flight refueling. Thunderjets saw heavy use in the Korean War, where they served mainly for attacks on ground targets.
Glue the large airframe parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the joints on the upper side of the fuselage carefully. The natural metal finish typical of Thunderjets is best built with a metal paint over a smooth gloss base; vary the intensity of the individual panels so that the airframe does not look flat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
