Bell P-39N Airacobra 1:72 from Hobby Boss: an injection-molded plastic kit of the unconventional American fighter with its engine in the middle of the fuselage, in an easy assembly form.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Bell P-39N Airacobra in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model belongs to the easy assembly range, with fewer parts, an engraved surface, a metal propeller shaft, one-piece glazing and decals. Thanks to its simplicity it suits beginning modelers and a quick build too.
The Airacobra was entirely unconventional in its layout: the Allison V12 engine sat in the middle of the fuselage behind the pilot and drove the propeller through a long shaft running under the floor of the cockpit. The freed-up nose carried a heavy cannon firing through the propeller hub, and the aircraft also had nosewheel landing gear, which was unusual at the time. The P-39 did not make much of a mark with American forces, but with the Soviet Air Force it became exceptionally popular, above all against ground targets and at lower altitudes. The N version was among the higher performing forms.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Even though this is an easy assembly kit, the cockpit is improved by a wash and by careful seating of the car-type doors and the one-piece glazing. Mask the glazing for clean frames. Spray the camouflage with an airbrush over a primer and bring it to life with a fine panel wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
