An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet multipurpose Antonov An-2 aircraft (NATO code Colt) in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. This variant captures the machine in its winter form with ski landing gear instead of wheels, as it flew in snow-covered and polar regions. The An-2 is a rugged single-engine biplane and its model makes a striking and unusual piece for any aircraft collection.
The Antonov An-2 is a single-engine multipurpose biplane that came about at the end of the 1940s and became famous for its exceptional toughness, its short takeoff and landing ability and its service in the harshest conditions. It served as an agricultural, transport, liaison, training and parachuting aircraft. In the remote regions of northern Siberia and in polar lands it was used as a reliable bushplane, on floats on water in summer and on skis on snow and ice in winter. Thanks to an enormous production run it is among the most widespread biplanes in history.
It is an injection-molded plastic model; glue the parts with a model cement for plastic and the small and clear parts with cyanoacrylate glue. When building a biplane, take care over the exact seating of the struts between the wings and the correct alignment of the upper and the lower wing. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush. A weathered, flat surface suits a winter scene, so accent the panels with a wash and suggest frost and snow on the skis. Do not forget to fit the clear parts of the large cabin carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
