Replacement wheels for models of the Brewster F2A Buffalo fighter in 1:72 scale from SBS Model, prepared for the Hasegawa and Hobby2000 kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Brewster F2A Buffalo was an American single-engine carrier fighter of the late 1930s, a cantilever low-wing monoplane with a stubby fuselage and retractable landing gear. On a finished model the wheels are close to the viewer's eye and their shape decides how the model stands on its base.
Wheels for 1:72 scale, prepared as a replacement for the parts from the Brewster F2A kits by Hasegawa and Hobby2000. Replacement wheels tend to be chosen precisely because they are one piece, so the seam down the middle of the tire disappears and with it the sanding at the spot where the tread pattern is most delicate.
The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for plastic models will not bond them. Cyanoacrylate glue is used; on a larger area two-part epoxy is the safer choice. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder away carefully so that the shape is preserved. Before painting, wash the wheels in lukewarm soapy water, degrease them and cover them with a primer. The hub is most easily separated from the tire with a masking circle, but that is not included in the package. If the wheels are made with a sagging tire, turn them so that the flat spot faces the ground, otherwise the whole impression is lost. The manufacturer's instructions give the specific procedure for preparing the parts.
For the modeler who is building a Buffalo in 1:72 scale and wants landing gear sharper than the kit offers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
