A pair of 3D-printed Browning AN/M2 .50 caliber aircraft machine guns in the flexible version, 1:72 scale. Suitable as a replacement for the plastic part in any kit of this scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The .50 caliber heavy aircraft Browning was among the most widespread defensive weapons of its day. In a flexible mount it was handled by a gunner, so the weapon stayed clearly visible on a model in an open position or behind a slid-back cover. An injection-molded plastic part in this scale usually has no chance of capturing the cooling jacket of the barrel or the definition of the receiver.
The package contains two examples of the weapon in 1:72 scale made by 3D printing. The parts are not tied to one kit and are used as a replacement for the original part in any model of the corresponding scale.
The weapons are held on print supports, which are cut off with a sharp knife close to the part, and the remains are carefully leveled with fine abrasive paper. Washing in lukewarm soapy water removes print resin residue and ensures the paint adheres. Paint thinly, first the base and then the metallic shade, because a heavy coat would flood the fine structure of the barrel jacket. A darker base under the metallic shade adds depth to the weapon.
The set is for modelers who are finishing the detail of open gun positions and cockpits. It contains only the weapons; the kit itself, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
