A set of decals for models of the C-130T transport aircraft in the Fat Albert finish in 1:72 scale. These are the markings alone for a finished model, not a kit. The blue and white finish of the support aircraft of the US Navy aerobatic team is among the most striking schemes the Hercules ever carried, and in a display case it makes a rewarding counterpart to the small fighters of the same team. The size of the motifs matches the fuselage and the wings of the Zvezda kit.
The C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop transport aircraft with a high wing, a rear cargo ramp and landing gear for operating from unpaved surfaces. The C-130T version was the naval transport variant, and in the role of support aircraft for the aerobatic team it carried technicians, spare parts and equipment between air shows. The aircraft nicknamed Fat Albert was crewed by the Marine Corps and became part of the display itself: the opening passes and the steep climb showed the agility of a machine a spectator would expect at a cargo airfield rather than at an air show. It served in this role until the end of the 2010s, when a newer version of the Hercules took over.
The large areas of lettering on the fuselage call for a carefully smoothed gloss ground, or the edges of the carrier film will give themselves away. Apply the motifs in sections, blot up the surplus water and let them dry properly. Use a decal softener on the transitions at the windows and doors. A final overcoat will even out the gloss of the whole model.
