Seamless engine intakes for a model of the Convair B-58 Hustler bomber in 1:72 scale. They replace the split intakes from the Italeri kit and do away with filling and sanding inside the duct.

The Convair B-58 Hustler was an American supersonic bomber with a delta wing and four jet engines in separate nacelles under the wing. The intake of each nacelle has a cone in the middle that directs the airflow at high speed, and it is one of the most striking features of the whole silhouette. It is exactly where everyone looks when they pick up the finished model.
The accessory replaces the engine intakes with one-piece units without a lengthwise joint. With split plastic intakes a seam always appears inside the duct, one that is very hard to fill and sand and that stands out even more once the paint goes on. Here no seam arises at all and the duct has a smooth wall along its whole length as well as a correctly shaped leading edge. The parts are shaped for the B-58 kits in 1:72 scale by Italeri.
The parts are not polystyrene and ordinary cement for plastic models has no effect on them, so use super glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest so that the intake meets the nacelle without a step. Wash the assembly in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let it dry. Paint the inside of the duct before you glue the intake to the nacelle; once it is fitted you will hardly get inside. The exact procedure for preparing the parts is described in the manufacturer's instructions.
The set suits modelers who do not want to fight seams deep inside the intake duct and who want all four nacelles equally clean. Fitting is straightforward and needs no changes to the structure of the model. The package contains the engine intakes only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
