The DFS Olympia (also known as the Olympia Meise) was a high-performance single-seat sailplane designed in the 1930s as a candidate for the planned Olympic gliding competition. It stood out for its clean aerodynamics, long slender wings and pleasant flying qualities, which made it one of the most widespread sporting gliders of its day, flown in many countries after the war as well. As an unpowered aircraft it has no engine: it takes off by winch launch or on aerotow.
A glider stands or falls by a clean surface, so fill and sand the seams carefully to let the smooth wings show. Glue the plastic with a thin cement and mask the cockpit glazing. Seat the long slender wings exactly at the right dihedral. Glossy or light period shades come out best in an even coat laid over a primer with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
