About product

Doblhoff WNF 342 1:72 (AMP)

A plastic kit of the German experimental Doblhoff WNF 342 helicopter in 1:72 scale from AMP. The short-run kit holds plastic sprues, etched parts, masking templates and decals for two versions. The unusual subject with its open structure is an attractive choice for collectors of experimental aircraft.

The real subject

The Doblhoff WNF 342 was a pioneering helicopter driven by jets at the tips of the rotor blades (tip-jet), developed during the Second World War. Several prototypes were built (V1 to V4), which were to allow operation even from small vessels. After the war the machines came into Allied hands and influenced the postwar development of helicopters with jet-driven rotors.

Building and painting tips

A short-run build calls for a more experienced hand: clean the parts up, keep dry-fitting as you go and glue the fine truss structure with care. Fix the etched features with super glue and use the masking templates on the glazing. After a primer, spray with an airbrush and finish the layout with a wash.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of experimental and early helicopters
  • More experienced modelers with a liking for short-run kits
  • Fans of unusual aircraft designs

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
