The cockpit is the first place anyone looks on an aircraft model, and in a small scale it is at the same time what a kit simplifies most. This set in 1:72 scale offers a replacement rendering of the cockpit for the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet and is listed for the Revell kit.
The F/A-18F Super Hornet is the two-seat version of the American carrier-borne combat aircraft. The crew stations are arranged in tandem, so a considerably larger area of the interior is visible under the glazing than on the single-seat version, and a successful cockpit therefore decides the impression of the whole model.
The cockpit is seated before the fuselage halves are joined, so try its fit dry first and correct any play by sanding the recess in the kit, not by sanding the set itself. The parts are not polystyrene, so cement for plastic models has no effect on them and they are bonded with cyanoacrylate. Cut surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off, then wash and degrease the parts. Painting is easiest in groups before assembly: a dark base, careful lightening of the edges and the small elements last. Fit the canopy glazing at the very end and use a glue that does not fog clear surfaces.
For builders who want to finish the model with an open canopy and are not content with a flat instrument panel. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
