A set of figures of Gallic warriors in 1:72 scale. It represents a warband, that is, a group of warriors around a chieftain, as Gallic armies looked at the time of the clashes with Rome. The figures are supplied unpainted and they have to be prepared before painting.
The Gallic tribes did not build an army in the Roman sense of the word. The basis was a warband bound to a chieftain, made up of the men who could afford arms. They fought in a loose formation and relied on the first fierce charge and on personal prowess. The equipment was highly varied: one man had a mail shirt and a helmet, another only a shield and a spear. It is precisely this variety that is interesting for a figure painter.
Make use of the lack of uniformity in the arms: paint every figure differently, whether in the color of the tunic or in the pattern on the shield. Checked and striped fabrics are done with a thin brush over a dried base, in small stretches. A mail shirt comes into its own after a black base and a light drybrush with a metallic shade. Paint the shields separately and glue them on only at the end, because once they are on you can no longer get at the body of the figure with a brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
