An injection-molded plastic kit of the German amphibious tracked tractor Land-Wasser-Schlepper (LWS) from Hobby Boss in 1:72 scale. The model captures the form from the medium production series. It is a compact kit with a split hull and tracks; the exact number of parts is given in the instructions enclosed in the box.
The Land-Wasser-Schlepper was an unusual German amphibious tractor developed at the end of the 1930s for engineer units. It served to tow craft and loads across water obstacles, for landings and for work in shallows and on the shore: on land it moved on tracks, and in the water it was driven by ship propellers. Only a few were built and they were committed in limited numbers, which makes the LWS an attractive curiosity for collectors of German equipment.
The parts are injection-molded plastic, so glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Finish the running gear and the tracks before closing the hull. In this small scale, clean up the small parts carefully. For painting, the period German gray or a dark yellow base with camouflage suits well, with a wash into the detail and pigments suggesting mud and water deposits: on an amphibious vehicle, weathering of the lower areas is particularly rewarding.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
