The real subject

The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter to enter service. The F.8 version came about after the war: it received a lengthened fuselage, a sliding cockpit canopy with a better view and a reworked vertical tail. In the first half of the 1950s it formed the backbone of the day fighter force and it served with further users outside Britain as well.

What the set contains

Colored three-dimensional interior elements prepared for the Meteor F.8 kit from Airfix. They cover the instrument panel with its dials, the side panels and the details of the seat, the belts included. The graphics are layered and slightly raised, so the instruments under the glazing do not look like flat printing but have depth and shadow.

Application

Spray the cockpit with a base color and let it dry completely; the surface under the elements has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Before applying, follow the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the set. The application procedure differs between the individual ranges, and the instructions state whether the elements are applied dry or by the wet method. Separate the elements with a sharp blade, move them with tweezers and fine-tune how they settle with pressure from a soft tool across the whole area of the panel.

Who it is for

For a builder who wants legible instruments in an open cockpit without drawing them by hand. The Meteor F.8 has a clearly transparent canopy and the interior is visible on a finished model, so the work is worth it. The set does not hold a kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
