A plastic kit of the British high-altitude photo reconnaissance aircraft Gloster Meteor PR Mk.10 in 1:72 scale. The subject is the unarmed photo reconnaissance version of the Meteor jet, adapted for taking pictures at high altitude. Check the particular contents of the package and the extent of the equipment against the packaging.
The Gloster Meteor was the first British production jet fighter, powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Derwent jet engines. The reconnaissance version PR Mk.10 was unarmed and carried photographic equipment in place of armament; it combined features of several Meteor versions and had a longer wing suited to flight at high altitude. With the RAF it served in the 1950s for long-range and high-altitude photo reconnaissance.
We recommend working with a thin plastic cement and an airbrush and dry-fitting the fuselage, wings and engine nacelles before gluing. Reconnaissance Meteors carried both a glossy silver finish and covering camouflage with undersides in the PR blue shade – emphasize the transitions and the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
