The plastic kit Messerschmitt Me 163C (1:72) — the development version of the Komet rocket fighter with a lengthened fuselage and a larger fuel load.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit in 1:72 scale presents the Messerschmitt Me 163C — a later development version of the legendary Komet rocket fighter. It is an injection-molded plastic kit that captures a less known variant with a modified fuselage compared with the production machine. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet was a rocket-powered interceptor and remains the only rocket fighter in history to see operational service. It was the first piloted aircraft to exceed 1000 km/h in level flight. The Me 163C version was designed with a lengthened fuselage and a larger propellant load, which was meant to answer the main weakness of the Komet — the extremely short duration of powered flight. It was a development and prototype direction that never reached full production service, but it illustrates well the effort to extend the range and endurance of a rocket fighter.
In the smaller 1:72 scale take care over the clean fit of the fuselage and wing parts. A thin cement for plastic and a base coat (primer) before painting prove themselves. Apply the colors with an airbrush in thin coats; late-war German camouflage is typical. It pays to finish the cockpit and the small details before closing the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
